How to prevent stainless steel from rusting?

1. Protective coating

Steel corrodes through what is called "uniform corrosion." This means that corrosion occurs evenly across the entire surface of the exposed metal. 2. Metallic paint

3. Steel lubricant

Paint will not work on moving steel parts such as hinges, joints, and bearings. Often, painting over moving parts will cause the parts to stick and the paint to crack when the parts are forced. This is where water-based lubricant comes in handy. In addition to facilitating movement, lubricants also repel moisture that can cause corrosion.


4. Galvanized metal

Galvanizing is the process of applying a thin layer of zinc to protect steel from corrosion. Because zinc is more chemically active than steel, it oxidizes when exposed to air, acting as a protective coating.
