Rusty Stainless Steel Decorative Pipe | Relationship with Seasons

It is about to enter the cold winter, and stainless steel decorative pipe manufacturers often receive some questions from users, such as: is stainless steel decorative pipe more likely to rust in winter? Today, we will simply answer this question for you.

In fact, the rusting of stainless steel decorative pipes has little to do with the season. The reasons for rusting mainly include the following:

1. On the surface of stainless steel, dust or dissimilar metal particles containing other metal elements are deposited on the surface. In humid air, the condensed water between the attachment and the stainless steel connects the two into a micro-battery, causing an electrochemical reaction and destroying the protective film, which is called electrochemical corrosion.

2. Organic juices (such as melons, vegetables, noodle soup, etc.) adhere to the surface of stainless steel, and form organic acids in the presence of water and oxygen, and organic acids will corrode the metal surface for a long time.

3. The surface of stainless steel is attached with substances containing acids, alkalis and salts (such as alkali water and lime water splashing on the decoration walls), causing local corrosion.

4. In the polluted air (such as the atmosphere containing a lot of sulfides, carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides), when it meets the condensed water, liquid spots of sulfuric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid are formed, causing chemical corrosion.

The above conditions can cause damage to the protective film on the stainless steel surface and cause rust. However, the climate is relatively humid in winter. Therefore, in order to ensure that the metal surface is bright and does not rust, it is recommended:

①The surface of the stainless steel decorative pipe should be cleaned and scrubbed frequently to remove the attachments and external factors that cause deterioration.

②The 201 and 202 stainless steels currently on the market are easy to rust in coastal areas, and are suitable for use in environments without industrial pollution and air corrosion.
