What is the difference between 202 and 304 stainless steel plate materials?

1. Different chemical compositions

The national standard model of 202 stainless steel is 1Cr18Mn8Ni5N, with a nickel content of about 4% and a manganese content of about 8%. It is a nickel-saving stainless steel; while the national standard model of 304 stainless steel is 0Cr18Ni9, which contains more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel content.

2. Different application fields

1. 304 stainless steel plate has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, good processing performance and high toughness. It is widely used in industry, furniture decoration industry and food and medical industry. 304 stainless steel has strong corrosion resistance and is widely used in the production of equipment and parts that require good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability).

2. 202 stainless steel is widely used in architectural decoration, municipal projects, highway guardrails, hotel facilities, shopping malls, glass handrails, public facilities and other places.

3. Different physical properties

202 stainless steel tensile strength σb (MPa) ≥ 520, conditional yield strength σ0.2 (MPa) ≥ 275; while 304 stainless steel tensile strength σb (MPa) ≥ 515-1035, conditional yield strength σ0.2 (MPa) ≥ 205 . The corrosion resistance is different. Since the chromium content in 304 stainless steel is greater than that of 202 stainless steel, its corrosion resistance is better. 202 stainless steel is one of the 200 series stainless steel. 200 series stainless steel is a low-nickel and high-manganese stainless steel. The nickel content is generally less than 4% and the manganese content is about 8%. It is a nickel-saving stainless steel. It is widely used in architectural decoration, municipal engineering, highway guardrails, hotel facilities, shopping malls, glass handrails, public facilities and other places. 304 stainless steel is a versatile stainless steel material with stronger anti-rust properties than 200 series stainless steel materials. The chemical grade of 304 stainless steel is 06Cr19Ni10. The old grade (0Cr18Ni9) contains 19% chromium and 8-10% nickel. 304 stainless steel is the most widely used stainless steel and heat-resistant steel. Used in food production equipment, general chemical equipment, nuclear energy, etc.
