201 14 Gauge Stainless Steel Wire
wire
201 14 Gauge Stainless Steel Wire is usually bought as a practical, cost-controlled wire for general fabrication rather than as a premium corrosion-grade product. In many markets, 14 gauge sits around 2.0 mm, but buyers should still send the metric diameter they need because gauge conversion is not handled the same way in every standard.
This grade is commonly chosen when the job is indoors, lightly corrosive or price-sensitive. If the finished part will stay outside, see chloride exposure or be washed frequently, buyers often move up to 304 or 316 instead of pushing 201 into the wrong application.
We usually see this size requested for tying wire, baskets, light mesh edging, formed hooks, display stands, workshop fixtures and small hardware parts. The conversation is normally about temper and pack format just as much as it is about grade.
Small trial quantities are often possible, but repeat orders work best when spool weight, temper and packing are fixed from the start. A lot of wire complaints come from buyers saying only "14 gauge stainless wire" and leaving out whether the material will be bent by hand, fed into equipment or welded after forming.
If your priority is price, 201 can make sense. If your priority is outdoor durability or easier long-term maintenance, it is usually better to compare the total cost with 304 before finalizing the order.
Inquiry note: When asking for this item, send the metric diameter, temper, packing style and intended use. That usually gets you a much cleaner quote than the gauge number alone.
