High-Performance 301 Stainless Steel Strip

Product Description & Applications

301 Stainless Steel Strip is a versatile austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel renowned for its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Through cold working, it can achieve exceptionally high tensile strengths while retaining good ductility. This makes it an ideal material for applications requiring resilience and formability.

Common applications include springs, fasteners, automotive trim and molding, structural components for rail cars and aircraft, as well as appliance and utensil parts. Its bright, attractive surface finish also makes it suitable for decorative purposes.

At Asia Metal, we are committed to supplying premium-quality 301 stainless steel strip that meets rigorous international standards. We support full customization of dimensions, temper, and surface finish to perfectly match your project's unique specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the main difference between 301 and 304 stainless steel?

The primary difference lies in their chemical composition and work-hardening rate. 301 has lower chromium and nickel content than 304. This allows 301 to work-harden much more rapidly, achieving higher tensile strengths upon cold rolling. 304, while less strong, offers slightly better general corrosion resistance and is more easily formed and welded.

Is 301 stainless steel magnetic?

In its fully annealed condition, 301 stainless steel is non-magnetic. However, it becomes progressively more magnetic as it is cold-worked. This is a key characteristic of this grade and differs from 316 stainless steel, which remains largely non-magnetic even after significant cold work.

What temper or hardness do I need for my application?

The required temper depends on your application. For deep drawing or complex forming, the annealed (soft) condition is best. For springs, blades, or high-strength structural parts, you would require a harder temper like 1/2 Hard or Full Hard. Our technical team at Asia Metal can help you select the perfect temper based on your specific forming and final performance requirements.
